Unique Monte in the Alentejo
Monte Saraz is a original restored ‘monte’ from the eighteenth century (a typical farm in the Alentejo) and offers tranquillity and comfort during your stay. Let yourself be seduces by the Alentejo and discover this peaceful retraite in the heart of the Alto Alentejo. You can enjoy the scenery, the beautiful gardens and beautiful view on the medieval city Monsaraz. Living in the heart of the Alentejo Monte Saraz is an eighteenth-century 'monte' (a typical Alentejo farming estate) which has been restored to its original state. It offers repose and quality in a main building and farmhouses.

Allow yourself to fall in love with the Alentejo plain and discover this peaceful retreat in the heart of Alto Alentejo, only 45 km from Évora, from which you will be able to enjoy the magnificent view of the medieval town of Monsaraz. You can savour the regional cuisine, go on walking or bicycle tours, visit prehistoric monuments, discover neighbouring villages or even enjoy the beauty of the lakes formed by the waters of Alqueva. The possibilities are endless. In Monte Saraz you can find tranquility at any time of year. You can enjoy the warmth or take a swim in the swimming-pool shaped by the arches of an old olive oil press. The property is surrounded by an ancient olive grove, by vegetable plots and orchards. It hints at a scenery worthy of Paradise, designed for those who appreciate the good things in life.

The main house Casa da Lagar
The main house is spacious, yet hostpitable. The owners call it ‘Casa da Lagar, which means House of the Olive-Oil Press. There are many details and attention fot the arts and crafts. The sizeable kitchen still has the original vaulted ceiling, as well as the rustic marble benches, where old utensils and fresh products of the region are available, just like in old times. Three bedrooms are en suite and include a toilet and heating.
Separate houses around the main house
Casa da Nora, a separate building, is decorated in rust and terracotta tones. It contains a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and a big, main room with a traditional 'Alentejan' fireplace. In the double bedroom has a view of the private garden and the noria ('Nora') belonging to the farm that once stood here. There is another bedroom (Quarto Borboleta) with two separate so-called Dona Maria beds and a private bathroom. This bedroom can also be separately entered. ?
Casa da Horta is a typical famers house from the nineteenth century. It consists of a fully equipped kitchen with a vaulted ceiling. One of the two double rooms is decorated in blue tones and the other is completely white, each having access to a private bathroom. The house also contains another room, which means up to seven people can stay here. The room, with an old fireplace, gives access to a patio perfumed by the rose garden opposite and is protected from the sun by a leafy vine trellis - the ideal space to get lost in a good book.

Casa da Nogueira has recently been restored. The building had a green and purple garden around it, with an enormous amphora and is covered by the old walnut tree. It contains a room overlooking the garden, a big double bedroom, private bathroom with closet and a small, fully equipped kitchenette. The house is right next to the main swimming-pool.

Casa da Fonte is a separate and quiet house with two floors. It was built recently, following the architectural traditions of the Alentejo. It is located next to one of the gardens and close to one of the fountains of Monte Saraz. This gives the house a particularly relaxing atmosphere. On the first floor we find the large living-room with a fireplace, the kitchen and a double bedroom. The bathroom is on the ground floor. The Casa da Fonte enjoys a superb view of Monsaraz and the orchard, surrounded by the eternal murmur of the fountain, flowing just alongside. One of the suites (‘Suite Fonte’) is also located on the ground floor and can be rejoined with the house.

Casa do Forno is recently restored and now has an ample common space. It is fully equipped including internet access (‘wireless’). The place is sited around an aromatic herb-garden and a rose garden. The 'alentejan' fireplace gives it a warm atmosphere. Another entrance leads to a private garden where lemon trees abound.
